Luigi's Mansion Arcade Cabinets Poppping Up In Japan

In further proof that Japan gets all the best arcade ports, a Luigi’s Mansion arcade cabinet has begun popping up for location tests in the country. NeoGAF user L-A posted some details from SEGA’s official site (translated by another forum member, StreetsAhead) which includes screenshots, the game’s controller, and other interesting aspects of the port.
According to information from the translated page as well as previous NeoGAF threads, the port will be coming sometime this summer. It features a first-person view and a controller shaped like the weapon that Luigi uses in the 3DS and Gamecube games – the Poltergust 3000. The game will require you to shake the controller to capture ghosts, mimicking how Luigi has to pull the vacuum back in order to capture ghosts in the home versions of the game. A select number of screenshots posted by SEGA can be seen  below.
The arcade port is aesthetically very similar to the 3DS’s Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon (Luigi’s Mansion 2) with several brightly-colored ghosts. Also similar to the previous two games, there is the option to vacuum up coins and other objects to help you along the way and presumably increase your high score.
According to the NeoGAF post, the cabinet is suspected to be showcased during the Japan Amusement Expo on February 14th.
Sadly, neither Luigi’s Mansion games were a huge hit in the states, so this cabinet is unlikely to make its way over. However, its simple motion-based controls would make ideal for a Wii U eShop title, should the desire for more Luigi ghost busting arise. As someone who was (and still is) a huge fan of the Luigi’s Mansion series I would turn several people into ghosts with my bare hands for the chance to try it.
