Marvel's A-Force Will Be The First All-Female Avengers Team

When the events of Secret Wars kick off it is going to cause some major shifts with established Marvel characters, and spawn some new team-ups. One such change will be the entirely female-led A-Force. The Avengers as comic readers have known them for so long will no longer be together, replaced by this new group of heroines in charge.
Among the members of the new face of Earth’s Mightiest will be She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru, and many others. A-Force will be co-written by G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite K. Bennett. The goal of the new team, as Wilson puts it, is to purposefully spread its membership out over the entire Marvel Universe to create a diverse cast of characters.

We’ve purposefully assembled a team composed of different characters from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies.

As Mashable is reporting, there will also e a new “cosmically powered” heroine named Singularity, and there may be other new heroines coming to join the newly formed A-Force as well.
A-Force will be one of many new series that launch alongside Secret Wars and its own umbrella brand books Warzones, Battleworld, and Last Days in May. Other established characters will have brand new series that follow their own stories after the events of Secret Wars and other new team-up series are expected to spawn out of the incursion.
Artwork on the series will be handled by Jorge Molina, and the cover art for A-Force #1 will be done by Jim Cheung, with a variant from Stephanie Haus coming as well.

Marvel has been the beneficiary of a rapidly growing female fan base, and this new series may be a result of targeting that exploding demographic. It’s not hard to see why the comic giant is attracting the new audience, either. Joss Whedon and Scarlett Johansson brilliantly brought Black Widow to the big screen in Avengers, and several female-led solo comics as well as a recent all-female X-Men series have made the world of comic books more inclusive than ever.
