Today, on the tenth anniversary of the original God of War, Sony has announced God of War III Remastered. The game will be in 1080p, available on the PS4, and feature a new photo mode.
Sony Creative Director Cory Barlog had this to say on the PlayStation Blog regarding the announcement:
This action packed thrill ride of a game will take series newcomers and regulars alike on a retina-popping thrill ride filled to the absolute brim with 1080p gameplay, silky smooth combat, earth-shaking weapons, bosses you simply have to face to believe, and an all-new new photo mode so you can share those most tender of God of War moments, like stabbing a Minotaur in the frickin face, with your friends and loved ones.
Along with the newly-remastered God of War game, there is a new selection of God of War merchandise for sale in the PlayStation Gear webstore. This selection includes several t-shirts, and a $150 limited edition 29-inch tall Kratos statue depicting Kratos on the throne in the final scene of the original God of War. This statue is in a limited edition run of 1000 so they will be going quick.
Also today, in celebration of the tenth anniversary of God of War, PlayStation has gathered the best speed runners around to compete toward the fastest completion time of the God of War games. They will be streaming today, March 20th, on Twitch.
