Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone and electronics maker, continues on its growth spurt opening up its first ever international Xiaomi Mi Home retail location in Hong Kong. The announcement was partially made through the Google+ page of Vice President Hugo Barra. If you don’t know, Barra left Google to take up the VP spot at Xiaomi and has been aggressive in growing the Xiaomi brand. Xiaomi is even opening its electronics accessory sales to the U.S. selling all but smartphones as they do not want to risk Apple coming after them due to similarities in their phone designs. Here’s what Barra had to say in his Google+ announcement concerning Xiaomi Mi Home.
Today is a glorious day — Xiaomi is opening our first international Mi Home, in Hong Kong! And it looks stunning 🙂
Mi Home HK is 270 square meters, with a spacious open-floor layout and a cozy design with couches, colorful pillows, and solid wood furniture.
Mi Home is many things in one place: a full-service repair center, an experience center for new Mi products, and Mi shop for fans to buy Mi accessories (and soon also phones!). Most importantly, Mi Home is a community hub for Mi fans to hang out, watch movies, and share stories.

Xiaomi is certainly making some interesting products and their smartphones look to be built nicely as well. With Barra at the VP helm, it’s been full steam ahead and there seems to be no stopping Xiaomi at the moment. What do you think of Xiaomi Mi Home coming to Hong Kong?
