Tesla Highway Autosteer And Parallel Autopark Updates Coming Soon

In a series of tweets Tesla Motors front man Elon Musk said the company is very near releasing a software update for both Tesla highway autosteer and parallel autopark. Like any new technology the original software wasn’t exactly working the best so Tesla’s crew went back to the drawing board. Tesla highway autosteer will allow the driver to take their hands off the wheel and pedals while the car cruises on its own. The system uses ultrasonic radar to sense and avoid obstacles, pedestrians other cars and it even changes lanes on its own.

Tesla highway autosteer isn’t exactly self-driving but it is the closest Tesla will get (for now) to that technology. While Tesla has expressed interest in a self-driving car there have been no plans on building one. Tesla is just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on this latest software update saying they are working on just a few annoyances that need to be overcome. Like dealing with low contrast lane markings, faded white on gray concrete and driving into the sun at dusk.

The parallel autopark software update will roll out at the same time as the highway autosteer. There’s not much to say about autopark that hasn’t been talked about already. It’s a great feature and hopefully the new software will enhance the user experience.
