Not to be left out, John Vignocchi from Disney was quick to announce that the popular – and wallet draining – Disney Infinity 3.0 will be headed to the new Apple TV this fall.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Disney Infinity series, kids (and the kid inside all us adults) play through Disney environments as various Disney characters. The characters are physical toys that are placed on a portal base which then transfers them into the game itself.
I’m happy to share that the full Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition console experience will be available on the new Apple TV later this year. The game will be available through a special Apple TV starter pack, with a similar configuration to the one offered for consoles, including the Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figures, and a new wireless Disney Infinity 3.0 bluetooth base! We’ll have additional details on this starter pack to share soon.
The announcement follows news from Activision that they are bringing Guitar Hero Live, Skylanders SuperChargers, and Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved to Apple TV and iOS devices this fall. Pricing and actual release date have yet to be announced.
What do you think about the new Apple TV’s ability to play games? Are you going to be picking up Disney Infinity 3.0 for the Apple TV?
