If you follow our sister site (and you really should, btw), you may have heard about the updated Apple TV announced by Apple today. One of the new features coming to the redesigned TV box is the ability to play games using the new glass touch remote.

Activision was the first to announce a trio of games that will be coming to Apple TV and other Apple devices later this fall. Familiar brands for many console owners, Guitar Hero LiveSkylanders SuperChargers, and Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions EvolvedGuitar Hero Live will debut on Apple TV as well as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch allowing gamers to play in their living room and then take their game on the go with the iPhone or iPad using the Bluetooth Guitar controller.

Built from the ground up to bring the rock star fantasy to life even bigger than before with live action film and real crowds that react to how you play, the Guitar Hero series has always been a popular group gaming activity.

Jamie Jackson, co-studio head and creative director at FreeStyleGames, is pretty stoked:

“We jumped at the opportunity to bring back Guitar Hero in a cool new way with Guitar Hero Live and have been energized by the response from fans who have had a chance to play it so far. We can’t wait for the game to launch next month and think people are going to get a kick out of living their rock star fantasy on consoles, mobile devices and Apple TV this fall. It’s going to be rad!”

On top of Guitar Hero Live, Activision also confirmed that Skylanders SuperChargers and Geometry Wars 3: Dimension Evolved are coming to Apple TV and other devices this fall.
