Star Wars Battlefront Open Beta Starts Today

Gaming / PC / PlayStation / Xbox

Unless you were one of the lucky few that got the closed beta invites, you are probably chomping at the bit for 1pm ET to arrive so you can do your part in saving the Republic (or defending the Empire, I suppose) in EA’s Star Wars Battlefront open beta.

The beauty of all this is that there is no need for a code or special access – it’s open beta baby! Everyone that wants in gets in! All you need to do is download the game on your device of choice (or all of them, really) with the only limitation being storage – XBox One and PS4 gamers will need 8 GB of storage and PC users will need a whopping 11 GB of storage to install the game. The game client will be available to download on the respective console’s digital stores and PC users will need to go to EA Origins site and download their client (click the link!).

The Beta will feature three different game modes and three maps: Walker’s Assault will be on Hoth and is an all out battle handling up to 40 players (20 per side). This mode will be a checkpoint game with the Empire trying to defend their AT-AT walkers and of course the Rebel fighters will be trying to destroy them. Both sides will fight for control of Uplink points to gain aerial support and hopefully win!

Drop Zone on Sullust has players defending escape pods that are crash landing on Earth. Two teams of 8 will compete and whichever side saves the most pods wins!

Survival Tatooine is exactly what the title says: A single or co-op mode of simply mowing down wave after wave of Imperial Stormtroopers and TIE fighters.

Players can find power-up cards on the battlefields to play their favorite Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. The game will also have a companion app available on iOS and Android as of launch where you can check your player stats, progression, customize your loadout, organize your card collection, and even check out where your friends are at in the game.

You can start the pre-download now, so what are you waiting for?! GO! May the force be with you!
