Have you ever wanted to get opinions from your Twitter followers? Well now you will be able to do just that as Twitter Polls will start rolling out to users over the next few days. Twitter made the announcement today via its blog and the feature will be available on Android, iOS and desktop clients.
Coming soon! We’re rolling out the ability for everyone to create polls on Twitter: https://t.co/pH5a8q9Ujz pic.twitter.com/ijAKEMUdf1
— Twitter (@twitter) October 21, 2015
Previously, we’ve offered a few ways to participate in polls — Tweeting questions and tracking replies, tallying hashtag votes, or asking followers to favorite or Retweet to vote. Now, you’ll be able to create your own two-choice poll right from the compose box and it will remain live for 24 hours. You can vote on any poll, and how you voted is not shared publicly.
Google+ introduced polls some months back and those haven’t gone over very well with that community. Twitter has a much different following with hundreds of thousands of brand names active so polls may play a significant roll there. It will be interesting if brands will be able to make Twitter polls sponsored so even if you’re not following a particular brand, they may still show up in your feed.
What do you think of Twitter polls? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
