Will Smith has been a lot of things — rapper, actor and now, presidential candidate? That may be the case, at least according to one interview.
Apparently, Will Smith has shown an interest in possibly running for the oval office some day. As he put it in a recent interview while promoting his new movie, Concussion:
“If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena,” Smith told CBS in an interview.
The interview will air on Sunday morning and he isn’t talking about running for mayor or for governor. According to Smith, who will play Deadshot in the upcoming Suicide Squad, he is considering a bid for president.
“I mean, I gotta be the President. Come on!” Smith said. What else would I run for?”
It’s not the first time a celebrity has run for the oval office, Ronald Reagan being the most notable person. But, whether or not Smith is serious about a presidential bid has yet to be determined. He did explain that he tells his kids to aim as high as they can, then push even higher.
“I tell my kids, ‘Be as unrealistic as possible, and then figure out how to make it real,'” he said. “The best things that have ever happened, ever, were unrealistic before they happened. So for me, I think being the biggest movie star in the world as a goal actually was too small!”
Smith said he came to the realization that he reached his goal four years ago. Since then, he’s been wondering what else is he going to do.
“There was no way [he] was put here just to be a movie star,” he said.
Considering the draw Smith has to his movies, there’s a very real possibility he could add United States President to his resume. What do you think? Would you vote for Will Smith if he made a presidential run? Let us know in the comments section below or on social media.Source: Comicbook.com
