Google has finally announced something that’s been rumoured for the past few weeks — podcasts are now available in Google Play Music. Ilia Malkovitch, Product Manager on Google Play Music, took to the official Android blog to unveil the news earlier today.
Starting today on the web and rolling out on Android in the U.S. and Canada, we’ll connect you with podcasts based on what you’re doing, how you’re feeling and what you’re interested in. Similar to our contextual playlists for music, we want to make it easy to find the right podcast—whether you’re a podcast aficionado or listening for the first time.
Podcasts will include opportunities for Learning Something New, telling you about Stuff You Should Know, or teaching you How To Do Everything. Like your music, they are broken into categories and include everything from Business to Arts, Technology, Science & Medicine, and many more. Some of the podcasts currently available include The Joe Rogan Experience, WTF with Marc Maron, NBC’s Pro Football Talk Live with Mike Florio, and The Nerdist podcast with Chris Hardwick.
Podcasts are currently rolling out on the web and Android in Canada (yes, CANADA!) and the U.S. starting today. Are you excited to be able to finally listen to your favourite online podcast in Google Play Music?
