Incipio Octane Review: A Slim Stylish iPhone Case

, ,

In our last iPhone case review we took a look at the Incipio Performance series for iPhone 6s now we’re going to dive in with the Incipio Octane. Incipio’s cases are a nice mix of minimal design, sporty looks and elegant taste and the Incipio Octane is no different.

The Incipio Octane is probably one of the better looking cases I’ve ever used on my iPhone 6s Plus and that is saying a lot. With the number of cases I’ve reviewed it is getting harder and harder to impress me as time goes on. There is only so much you can do with a case but Incipio manages to really pull together some nice design elements making this an attractive case. The hexagon shapes cut into the bumper not only look really amazing to the eye, they help with grip when holding the phone.

The volume rocker and power button have a ton of tactile feedback and were a pleasure to use. Often times case makers make the button points too stiff and difficult to push. One thing Incipio did well here that they failed on with the Performance Series is making those buttons raised. It is very easy to feel the buttons when not looking at the phone which helps in knowing what buttons you are working.

The back of the case is translucent and shows the back of the iPhone which is always nice to see. The Incipio branding is subtle and tastefully done. The Lightning port cutout is ample allowing third party cables to work well as is the headphone jack cutout.

Installation is as simple as any other case, slip your phone into the case and snap in place.

The Incipio Octane will likely provide decent four to six foot drop protection without too much problem and the raised lip on the front is great for glass protection. This case isn’t rugged so don’t expect bullet proof protection here but it’s also no slouch and far from a simple TPU case. Overall the protection will suffice for just about any person working an office job or student heading to school.

The Octane retails for $29.99 (you can get it on Amazon at the time of this review for $17.93) and it’s priced competitively with other name brand case makers. It’s well worth the price point and if you get to Amazon on time you’ll get an even better deal.

Wrap Up

A super slim wonderfully designed case perfect for just about anyone.
