Rumor: iPhone 7 with stereo speakers?

We’re just three months out from the official iPhone 7 announcement and the rumor drums are banging once again, this time its stereo speakers. New renders coming out of China show the bottom of the iPhone could have stereo speakers. The headphone jack is also absent from the bottom. This is adding fuel to the rumors the Lightning port will be used for sound and power. But the renders also show the cameras are different on the iPhone 7 vs the iPhone 7 plus.

Rumors have been going around that the 7 plus would gain a dual camera and the renders indeed show that this may be the case. Some reports said that dual cameras were out due to Sony not having the stock to supply to Apple. Dual cameras have been used in past Android devices with varying degrees of acceptance. We’re not sure how Apple would implement the dual camera setup or how the software would work.

Another rumor has been that the new iPhone would have a Smart Connector like the iPad Pro. These renders do not show a Smart Connector so that could be a no go. But then we should take every rumor that comes out with a grain of salt. Nothing is confirmed and even seasoned Apple leakers get things wrong from time to time. Even us media types have fallen for some pretty convincing material.

While it’s a rumor, stereo speakers would be something I’d love to see happen. I’d take that over a Smart Connector or even dual cameras, depending on the software for the cameras. I guess we’ll all find out come September when Apple takes to the stage to unveil their updated device.
