If you were anyone in the 80s and 90s, you knew the pinnacle of cool was being gifted a thoughtfully constructed original list of songs painstakingly recorded onto a cassette tape just for you. So just what do the mixtape and Netflix have in common? Fast-forward to 2016, and Netflix is bringing back the magic of the mixtape with Flixtapes!

Flixtape is a way for people to create and gift a curated playlist of Netflix titles based around your chosen theme, mood, or message. It’s like a mixtape, but for Netflix.

Some of the sample Flixtapes Netflix has put together include:

  • The Summertimes Flixtape
  • The Besties or Frenemies Flixtape
  • The Couch University Flixtape
  • The Family Reunion Flixtape
  • The Kiss and Tell Flixtape
  • The Mom and Pop Flixtape

You can head on over to the Flixtape website at flixtape.netflix.com, log on, view the existing Flixtapes or name your own Flixtape, edit the titles you want to include and customize your cover. You can then share with friends and they can then access the titles directly through Netflix.

What do you think about the Netflix Flixtape and the “return” of the 80s mixtape? Have you created any? Do you have some awesome ideas for some? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
