Epic GoPro Hot Wheels run is… well… epic!

|

Imagine a Hot Wheels track setup using eight different track sections and two hundred feet of track, then imagine strapping a GoPro to the car and filming it all. That’s exactly what 5MadMovieMakers did and the whole video is only eleven cuts. They built the track to go through a swimming pool which presented its fair share of challenges, the worst being keeping the track together. The MovieMakers used a GoPro Hero4 strapped down to a 2014 Pharadox car to capture the whole thing. It’s truly a masterpiece and tickles both the geek and nostalgia funny bone in me. Take a look at the video below.

I think the most amazing part of this video is the underwater bit. While the car did fall off the track a few times before they got the shot, it’s just amazing that it did eventually stay on the track going underwater. The other great part of this is the length of this track. Any kid worth his weight would kill for that much Hot Wheels track! I know I had a few tracks growing up but those barely made up 10 feet. The creators also wanted to be sure and explain that while yes, the scene changes and video cuts did require editing, there was no further editing done. All car movement was handled via gravity and the car’s own momentum. This little project had to be tons of fun for this crew and I’m sure it’s brought a smile to more than a few faces on the internet today.

What do you think of this epic Hot Wheels track and video? What kind of tracks did you have growing up or even what kind of tracks do you have now? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
