Apple’s new AirPods are the most “magical” thing the company has ever produced, at least in Jony Ive’s estimation. The wireless Bluetooth AirPods are designed to be used with your new iPhone 7 in a seamless dance of technology. While we have yet to even see a pair or use them (we will reserve judgement until we do have the chance) the internet isn’t so forgiving. AirPods have become this year’s Apple product punching bag. Team Coco has decided to get in on the fun by producing one of the funniest parody commercials we’ve seen yet.
Of course Team Coco is Conan O’Brien’s YouTube channel and he’s had a few of these types of parodies that have been pretty hilarious. AirPods are concerning to many consumers on a couple of levels. As the video satirically points out, the chances of these popping out of your ears and being lost is substantially higher than using wired earbuds. The removal of the headphone jack from the iPhone is hotly contested but I dare say that most consumers aren’t too happy.
Still Apple has a track record of sticking to its guns when it comes to making a huge change like this and in the end, their users end up conforming and adapting to the change. The removal of the floppy disk and optical drive along with the Ethernet port are just a few examples. When Apple gets it in their heads that a technology is going to go away, it pushes very hard to make it go away on their timeline. We shall see how that works out for them with the headphone jack as its a bit more popular than the aforementioned tech.
