Let’s not rehash the fact that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are missing their headphone jacks, it’s something we have to live with now that it’s happened. But if you’re a headphone jack lover and want it back on the cheap, the iLDOCK just might be a Kickstarter you can stand behind. The iLDOCK looks a bit like a product that Belkin is also introducing soon that allows you to use two Lightning ports from the one on the iPhone. The iLDOCK, which is not MFi certified, gives you one Lightning port and one headphone jack so you can use your regular headphones but not Lightning capable headphones. While the Belkin product will retail for $39.95USD, the basic iLDOCK will only set you back $10.
The company isn’t stopping with just a basic version. The iLDOCK Plus (also not MFi certified) adds in Lightning, USB Type-A, headphone jack, a TF (microSD) slot, and an SD slot for $20. The Plus version can take up to a 128GB SD card, so there’s plenty of extra storage for those who didn’t opt for 128GB or 256GB iPhones. The only downside I see to this gadget is the size of it, this thing is pretty small and it might be easily misplaced or lost.
That said, if you get the basic version at $10 you’re not losing too much, step up to the package with two iLDOCK’s for $18 and you’ll have a backup. This is one of those impulse buys you’ll just have to feel in your gut and back if you want. In the meantime, you can check out the Kickstarter at the link below.
