Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s Stunning Cinematic Trailer Reveal

Bioware has been fairly quiet in regards to releasing new information concerning their newest title Mass Effect: Andromeda. During the recent “N7 day” however, we were treated to a gorgeous new cinematic trailer.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is the latest title to be set in the epic space opera universe created by Bioware, the series has been quite successful for EA, and has seen 3 main entries to date.

This new trailer demonstrates the gorgeous visuals the series is known for, the graphics are impressive sure, but what amazes me the most is the artistic direction the series is known for. The very first shot we see in this trailer shows us an immense spaceship floating through space, inter-cut with scenes of a possible attack on the ship, or at least a disaster that strikes the crew. We see various shots of the characters within destruction, or in dangerous situations In the final shots, we even see our hero facing off against a huge, and imposing snake-like creature.

I am excited to see what story will be unfolding in this latest title as details have been scarce, it is known that players will be controlling either one of two siblings, being the offspring of Alec Ryder, an N7 special forces soldier. Players are given the choice of choosing to control either a female or a male, which keeps in line with the series offering both genders as playable lead roles.  The beauty of this is that which ever sibling you do not choose, will still feature heavily throughout your campaign, and impact the story in various ways. The siblings are tasked with the role of “Pathfinder,” which is a scientist/soldier hybrid on a mission to find a new home world for the human civilization to colonize.

The trailer itself is a mixture of  beautiful prerendered and in-game graphics, unfortunately we do not get any actual gameplay reveal. Bioware has stated however that they will be releasing more footage in December 2016, which will be showcasing the actual gameplay we can expect.

As an extra bonus, Bioware has announced that Mass Effect 2 & Mass Effect 3 are now both backwards compatible with the Xbox One. This means that the entire trilogy can be played on the Xbox One, as the first Mass Effect has been backwards compatible for some time now. If you own these titles, then it might be worth dusting them off for another round to brush up on the series lore.

Now’s also a good time to check out EA Access as all three Mass Effect games are also part of the Vault — free to play for EA Access subscribers.
