Nokia 6 officially unveiled, launching in China early 2017

The Nokia 6 will launch in China exclusively on JD.com for 1699 CNY in early 2017.

After a long and storied past, Nokia is finally back in the smartphone game through their recently announced partnership with HMD Global. The company has taken the wraps off their first new smartphone in over 2 years. The Nokia 6 will launch in China exclusively on JD.com for 1699 CNY in early 2017.

Some of the features and specifications of the Nokia 6 smartphone include:

  • Aluminum unibody
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with X6 LTE modem
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB storage
  • Android Nougat
  • Dual amplifiers
  • Dolby Atmos
  • 16MP phase detection auto-focus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lenses
  • 8MP front camera

HMD Global was focused on “combining quality and durability to deliver a premium smartphone experience at a price point for the highly aspirational Chinese consumer.”

The Nokia 6 marks the first step on our journey, with more to come in 2017.”

As to why the phone will be launching only in China, HMD Globel mentioned the growing Chinese smartphone market. While mentioning that this is just the first step for the return of the brand with more to come in 2017. There was no mention of global releases for the Nokia 6 or future Nokia Android smartphones.

“China is the largest and most competitive smartphone market in the world,” Nestor Xu, Vice President Greater China, HMD Global said. “It is no coincidence that we have chosen to bring our first Android device to China with a long-term partner.”
