I remember seeing the Audi R8 for the first time back in 2006 and was blown away by its design language. I loved everything about the look of the R8 and I felt it was a departure from what most supercar makers were doing. As a matter of fact, according to Doug DeMuro, the first Audi R8 was a pretty big success for a number of reasons. The new R8 Spyder is rocking a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine which produces 610 hp of power and 560 Nm of torque along with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. Throw in Audi’s famous Quattro system and you get going from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3. seconds with a top speed of 204 mph. This makes it the fastest series production vehicle on the market. For you Tesla lovers out there, I know, I know, the P100D will mop the floor with Audi. That’s not the point. I love the P100D and I love what Tesla is doing. That doesn’t mean I can’t love this Audi R8 as well.
As the owner of an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, I just love Audi cars and this R8 Spyder is just a thing of beauty to behold. This baby is going to set back German buyers a whopping €207,500EUR and should be available sometime later this summer. Audi USA has not announced availability and pricing for the R8 Spyder V10 Plus yet but I am sure it will end up coming here as well. Now if only Audi would send me one of these to review. I promise I won’t keep it for longer than six months for evaluation Audi. 🙂
