After announcing the re-designed Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact back in February, Sony has announced that the Xperia XZ2 Premium will be available this summer.

Featuring a 3D glass surface with a seamless finish, the Xperia XZ2 Premium is IP65/IP68 certified and houses a 5.8″ 4K HDR display which allows you not only to view 4K HDR content but also create your own with onboard 4K HDR movie recording. Using Sony’s BRAVIA TV technology, X-Reality for mobile allows for up-converting of content to “near HDR” quality for better contrast, color, and clarity.

Sony appears to be going all in with the camera on the Xperia XZ2 Premium with a 12800 ISO sensitivity for video recording and 51200 ISO sensitivity for photos. The main rear camera features Sony’s new Motion Eye Dual camera which has a 19MP colour image sensor as well as a 12MP black and white sensor.

Xperia XZ2 Premium is the first-ever smartphone to feature the new Motion Eye™ Dual camera, consisting of a black-and-white sensor for capturing clear contrast and the colour image sensor for accurate colour. Details from both sensors are thenprocessed by the AUBE™ fusion image signal processor in real time, enabling video recording with the highest ISO12800 sensitivity ever in a smartphone (as well as an ultra sensitive ISO51200 for photos). The camera’s ultra sensitivity with clean, noiseless images was previously only possible with interchangeable lens cameras. With this new addition to the flagship family, Xperia brings this highly advanced technology to the palm of your hand.

Other camera features also include Bokeh options, monochrome functionality, low-light capability, 4K HDR Movie recording, 960fps Super Slow Motion in HD or Full HD, and a front-facing 13MP, 1/3.06” low-light sensor camera with display flash.
