Motorola unveils the new moto Z3 and 5G moto mod from Verizon

, ,

Motorola held a big press event at their Chicago headquarters at the Merchandise Mart today. The company pulled back the curtain on their latest device, the moto Z3 an 5G moto mod. While the phone is new, it still maintains that same form factor the moto Z3 series has been known for.

Most of that is due to Motorola needing to continue to support moto mods. It would be difficult to change the design of the device and continue to use older mods. The device feels nice in the hand. It’s basic look and feel is that of the Z3 Play, review coming soon for both the Z3 Play and new Z3.

The new moto Z3 features a 6″ Max Vision Full HD+ OLED display with an expansive 18:9 aspect ratio, an all-day 3000 mAh battery8, dual depth-sensing smart camera system with Google Lens built in. moto Z3 maintains our pure Android experience, cutting down on unnecessary apps and bloatware, and including the latest software with Android Oreo. And we’ve gone one step further with moto experiences. The seamless integration of hardware and software makes interacting with your smartphone more fun and intuitive than ever with fast and easy shortcuts to the features you use most.

But the Z3 isn’t the only thing announced at this event, Verizon was in attendance as well. Partnering with Motorola the pair announced it’s 5G moto mod. Verizon is promising 10x faster speeds on its 5G network (when available) but said 4G isn’t going anywhere. Nicola Palmer chief network engineer at Verizon said, “4G will not go away because it is the foundation for 5G.”

When paired with the mod, moto Z3 is the world’s first smartphone with access to Verizon’s 5G Network, delivering a new beginning for indulging in video, connecting home devices, working remotely and gaming in AR and VR. Motorola also partnered with Qualcomm to achieve this industry milestone utilizing the flagship Snapdragon X50 modem and millimeter wave components.

The 5G Moto Mod will be bringing Verizon’s 5G network to you along with a 2,000 mAh spare battery. There is no on-off switch, just snap on and go. Much like the rest of the Moto Mod lineup. The 5G Moto Mod will give you 10x faster speeds on your Z3 and help keep you charged. Verizon’s 5G network is only available in select markets including Houston, Los Angeles, and Sacramento but they promise more to come.
