Oppo, the sister company to OnePlus, has announced yet another phone to their family. Last time it was the mid-tier Oppo A5 and now it’s the Oppo R17, a phone with the newly announced Snapdragon 670 SoC from Qualcomm and Gorilla Glass 6. When going through the spec sheet, it’s got everything you’d expect from a high-tier device, minus a Snapdragon 8xx SoC.
As mentioned above, the Oppo R17 will come with a Snapdragon 670 SoC with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM. As for the display, you’re looking at a 6.4-inch with FHD+ (1080×2280) resolution. The front screen is covered by Gorilla Glass 6, which is supposed to be more scratch resistant than Gorilla Glass 5. Granted, glass can still break when you drop it. Continuing on with the screen, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner and a minimal notch similar to the one on the Essential Phone. The R17 has a nice curve to the front-facing camera making it look a bit more appealing.
Getting to the camera, the rear comes with a dual set up with the main lens being 16MP and the second lens at 5MP. On the front facing cam, you’re getting a massive 25MP lens. A 3500mAh battery is on board with a USB-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and ColorOS 5.2, which is based off Android 8.0 Oreo.
Oppo hasn’t announced a price for the handset yet, but reservations are open to anyone who would like to get their hands on it. The phone will be released on August 18th, which is right around the corner, we’ll end up knowing how much the phone costs.
Oppo doesn’t really have a market share here in the states, so don’t expect to get your hands on one from a retail store. What do you guys think about the Oppo R17? Let us know by leaving your comments down below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.Source: Android Authority
