Other than the 7-inch touch display, the smart Home Hub will be able to connect to 2.4 and 5GHz networks for high-performance streaming.

It was only a matter of time before Google finally announced their competitor against Amazon’s Echo Show, Lenovo’s Smart Display, and JBL’s LINKVIEW. That day could soon come as rumor has it that the 7-inch Google Home Hub will be announced alongside the Pixel/ Pixel XL 3 on October 9th.

Renders and specs have been leaked on the new smart hub, so we now have a clearer picture as to what we’ll be getting our hands on. Other than the 7-inch touch display, the smart Home Hub will be able to connect to 2.4 and 5GHz networks for high-performance streaming. Bluetooth is included. Ambient light and color sensors will be at the on the top of the display, but there is no mention of a camera or anywhere on the rendering of a camera placement. The unit will come in two different colors, chalk and charcoal, and weighing only 480g.

Feature-wise, you’re looking at what Google calls “help at a glance.” This will let you “see your life in one view, and get things done hands-free. Google Home Hub helps you make the most of moments at home.” Just like Google Assistant, you’ll be able to add anything to your calendar, or make a shopping list, make calls to family, friends, or businesses.

One thing that Google might be pushing with the smart Home Hub is that you can ask the display to show photos of whatever you’re looking for from Google Photos. This lets you relive those special moments whether you’re on vacation, or with family, or having fun with friends.

It might not get as much attention as the newer Pixel devices, but what do you guys think about Google’s new smart Home Hub? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
