Google Camera with Night Sight working on Essential Phone, Xiaomi Mi 5, other smartphones

One of the biggest camera enhancements to Android mobile photography recently is no doubt the new Google Camera with Night Sight. First announced when the new Pixel 3 and 3 XL were unveiled earlier this month, the feature hasn’t even been released on those phones yet we’re already getting our first-hand look at the feature after the Google Camera app was modded by the folks over at XDA-Developers. As we previously noted, it’s definitely a game-changing feature given the added clarity and brightness it gives to low light photos.

While XDA-Developers confirm that it is working on the Essential Phone and the Xiaomi Mi 5, users commenting on the post are confirming that it is working on a few other devices as well. These devices include the Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 5 Plus, Nokia 7+, Zenfone Max Pro M1, OnePlus 3t, and more. It does seem that it is hit and miss on some of these other devices and as far as quality compared to the Pixel 3 devices, that remains to be seen as well.

At any rate, it was only a matter of time before the new Google Camera app was ported to other devices. It’ll be interesting to see what other devices get the feature — both officially and unofficially.

NOTE: Techaeris is not responsible for any issues or damage you may incur if you install this modded app. That being said, we’ve installed it on four devices (Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 2 XL, and Pixel) with no issues. You can get the link from XDA-Developers below.

Have you tried the Google Camera with Night Sight port on your Essential Phone or other Android device? Does it work? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
