Playground Games announced at X018 that the first Forza Horizon 4 expansion will be called “Fortune Island.” Featuring a new offshore island with extreme weather, the expansion will be released on December 13th.

As mentioned in the reveal video below, Ben Thaker-Fell, chief game designer for Playground Games states that players will “hunt for hidden treasure and explore the most extreme terrain ever seen in a Horizon game.” Thaker-Fell goes on to say this is “the largest expansion we’ve ever made.” With everything from lightning storms which affect the environment to the aurora borealis, “Fortune Island” brings back fond memories of the first Forza Horizon 2 expansion “Storm Island.”

There is no word on how the expansion will connect to the rest of the game, in previous iterations they were separate areas that players were transported to. Given the layout of the base map, it would be cool if players could drive across a bridge to get to the new area.

Not much else is known about the expansion at this time but we do see that the production version of the Lamborghini Urus is finally here after years of the pre-production vehicle being included in past games.

The new expansion is available for free to those who own the Ultimate Edition or Ultimate Add-ons Bundle of the game or have purchased the Forza Horizon 4 Expansions Pack.
