[CES 2019] New Acer Swift 7 boasts 92% screen-to-body ratio

|

The Acer Swift 7 is even thinner and lighter than before, with a 92% screen-to-body ratio, the company has announced at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.

“The Acer Swift 7 strikes a balance between art and technology, and in doing so pushes ultra-portable PC design to new territories. With a striking screen-to-body ratio of an incredible 92 percent, Acer customers can stay more productive with a compact, thinner and lighter notebook that feels ‘barely there’ while carrying it around through the day and during business travel.”

Jerry Hou, General Manager, Consumer Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.

With a new premium chassis, the 14-inch Acer Swift 7 has ultra-narrow 2.57mm bezels that give this high screen-to-body ratio. In addition, the new laptop weighs in at only 890 grams (1.96 lbs), making it a great choice for carrying around in a briefcase or backpack.

Under 1 cm thin (0.39 inches), the Swift 7 is made to be light and durable with its magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum alloy construction. The entire laptop is coated with a micro-arc oxidation finish for an elegant, ceramic-like finish.

On the display side, the 14-inch FHD (1920×1080) IPS touch display features 100% sRGB/72% NTSC color gamut coverage and 300 nits of brightness. Under the hood, the notebook is powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8500Y processor, comes with up to a 512GB PCIe SSD, up to 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and boasts 10-hours of battery life.

As far as connectivity, the Swift 7 comes equipped with not one but two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, as well as a USB 4.1 Gen 2 port. A DisplayPort also allows for additional display connectivity. Gigabit Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0 support as well as a 3.5mm headphone/speaker jack round out the connectivity options.

The Acer Swift 7 (SF714-52T) with a touch display will be available with 8GB or 16GB of LDDR3 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of SSD PCIe storage. The new Swift 7 will be available in North America in May, starting at US$1,699; in EMEA in April, starting at €1,799; and in April in China, starting at ¥14,999. It will also be available in Starfield Black or Moonstone White.
