Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1

Dell’s Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 is now thinner, smaller, and sleeker in both 13- and 15-inch configurations. The new hinge features an “Active Pen garage” which allows users to store a full sized Active pen for easy access and secure storage.

Some of the new features of the Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 include:

  • Introducing the first 2-in-1 with an innovative pen garage design that allows a full-size active pen to be stored right in the hinge1.
    • The way that the hinge rotates, the user is always presented with the pen, whether in laptop mode, stand mode, tent mode, or tablet mode. Intuitive, and easy to use.
    • The pen magnetically snaps back into place easily, and when the laptop is closed, the pen is safely secured inside.
    • Hot air is vented through the back of the laptop and out of the hinge. The way that it is designed, it helps prevent the airflow from being blocked by a couch cushion or bedsheet, and also ensures that the user can’t accidentally touch a hotspot when handling the device.
    • Aesthetically, the hinge looks nicer than the prior two-hinge design, with less lines interrupting the visual flow of the design.
    • A significant amount of engineering had to go into this hinge -a new, innovative design for routing cables from the laptop to the screen had to be developed and is in the process of being patented!
  • With the Active Pen (included on Black Edition), draw and write naturally for a pen-on-paper experience.
  • A new keyboard design debuts a new power key with fingerprint reader that simplifies the keyboard area and allows for space on the 15“ for a number pad.
  • New Adaptive Thermal technology enables the 2-in-1 to detect when it is sitting still on a desk (i.e. getting work done) vs. being handled and moved around (on a lap, or in tablet mode). It will adjust its performance profile so that it generates less heat when being mobile, and will ramp itself up when it’s sitting still on a desk where there’s no worry for heating up laps
  • The USB Type-C with DP/PD supports charging, sending image to displays, and data with other peripherals.
  • Three-sided narrow border bezel gives you added screen space in a smaller footprint when you’re watching your favorite shows or working on your latest projects.
  • The diamond cut chamfer edges on the click pad are smooth on the fingers.
  • Available in silver color, without pen garage, as Inspiron 13/15 7000 2-in-1.

The Dell Inspiron 13/15 7000 2-in-1 will be available in June or July of this year with pricing still to be determined.

Dell Mobile Connect

Dell Mobile Connect is the company’s solution for connecting PCs to mobile devices, allowing users access to their phone’s notifications and apps on their computers. Launched last year at CES 2018, over 25 million phone calls and text messages have been made using Dell Mobile Connect.

This year, the company is announcing a couple new features to the service:

  • Coming this winter through a free update, Dell Mobile Connect will allow users to wirelessly drag and drop files between their PC and Android phone as well as a full visual design update.
  • Dell Mobile Connect will demonstrate a future capability to integrate all your phone’s notifications while in virtual reality – NOTE: this is not a product, just a capability demo.

Dell Cinema

Dell Cinema is Dell’s combination of color, sound, and streaming to offer “vibrant life-like color, brilliant sound clarity, and uninterrupted streaming on Dell PCs.” Some of the features currently available and rolling out soon include:

  • Dell Color Profiles is Dell’s color enhancement technology that provides four profiles (Movie, Evening, Animation, Sports) that optimize the display color and contrast to deliver richer, more detailed color representation to dramatically improving the PC viewing experience. XPS and Inspiron laptops continue rolling out this feature during first half of 2019.
  • Dolby Vision makes use of HDR’s true potential, delivering our best, most spectacular color, brightness, contrast and detail for ultra-vivid and lifelike images that will make you forget you’re looking at a screen. Available on XPS 13 model 9380 and rolling out to additional laptops during 2019.
  • Intelligent Bass Enhancement delivers deep bass with intelligent bass and loudness enhancement that precisely enriches low-end at any volume.
  • Sound Optimization for 2-in-1s automatically adjusts sound equalization as a convertible 2-in-1 device moves from laptop, tablet, tent, or stand mode –noticeably improving volume, bass, high-end, and dialog clarity.
  • Waves Nxbrings 3D audio to your headphones by using your webcam to track head movements & deliver an experience that envelops you in your movies, music and games.
