Design
The mophiepowerstationpd is an unassuming looking piece of gear but its nondescript demeanor means it will appeal to most users. The outer casing is made of high-quality plastic that feels and looks durable. There is a dimpled black pattern flanked by a solid grey color which looks appealing.
On one edge is the mophie branding along with a button and LED lights which show how much life is left in the battery. On the end is the USB-C port and USB-A port. That’s about all there is to this device.
Overall, it’s a plain design. Most everyone will be fine with the look of the powerstationpd. It’s built well and should be able to take some abuse.
Performance
The mophiepowerstationpd delivers 18W of power through its USB-C connection. That means you can charge your device up to 2.5x faster than a standard 5W charger. But for iPhone users, you’ll need to get a USB-C to Lightning cable for this to work.
The USB-A port delivers 12W of power, which is still better than the standard Apple 5W charging brick but still not the full 18W the USB-C side gives. Android users with USB-C devices are covered as there is a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box.
Overall, the mophiepowerstationpd does what it says it will do. It will charge two devices at once using both the USB-C and USB-A ports. But iPhone users, unless they get the USB-C to Lightning cable, will be stuck with the 12W charging port. New iPad owners can take advantage of the 18W side as that device is now USB-C. That all being said, I think this little external battery does a great job.
Price/Value
The mophiepowerstationpd is priced at US$59.99 and competes well with the competition at that price. There are other battery packs for less so price and the value is going to be very subjective here. Overall, I think the value is here and the price is pretty close to the competition.
Wrap Up
mophie made a really nice little portable battery pack here. It’s priced right and it delivers what users need, portable power fast.
