It’s easy to assume that all movies about learning and education follow the same plot arc.

We’ve previously covered the best cars in movies, the best superhero movies, the movies with the most Oscars, and the best Christmas movies. Now, we’re taking on education with a round-up of the best and worst students in movies!

Researched and produced by edu-tech company OneClass, this infographic breaks down which on-screen students got the best grades and which were the worst slackers.

For example, movies about big-brained students, such as Good Will Hunting, show a student that surpassed the professor’s skills. On the other hand, the slacker students in Animal House demonstrate extreme partying skills. In addition, there are movies about untraditional teachers such as School of Rock and several movies about supernatural students.

Movies about learning and education can be a satisfying way to remember one’s own time in school or, perhaps, the type of student that you wish you were. You may even relate to stories about older students and the on-screen hilarity that ensues when they go back to school.

It’s easy to assume that all movies about learning and education follow the same plot arc. Of course, we frequently see the story of a struggling student who works hard and achieves success just before the end credits. These movies can certainly leave you inspired. Yet there are also some hilarious or unexpected plots where students take surprising twists and turns. For example, the cult classic The Breakfast Club is not about academic success, but instead, it captures high schoolers during Saturday detention.

This infographic about the best and worst students in movies highlights some of our all-time favorites. Including everything from grammar school to grad school and even wizard school, check out how these students compare when ranked on intelligence, grades, and studying.
