Xbox goes disc-less: Meet the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition

Welp, another not very well kept secret is out of the bag. Xbox has unveiled the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, a 1TB Xbox One S without a physical disc drive, alongside the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Go all digital with the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition and build a library of digital games that travels with you and is available in the cloud. Take your cloud saves on the go, and enjoy the ability to preorder and pre-install upcoming games so you’re ready to play the moment they launch. Expand your options with Xbox Game Pass, discovering and downloading over 100 great games (subscription sold separately).

With digital downloads increasing in popularity, the new Xbox One S caters to those who (like me) rarely use the disc drive in there Xbox One consoles. In addition to being more affordable than the standard Xbox One S, the new All-Digital Edition also comes with three games: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves.

Speaking of price, the new disc-less version has an MSRP of US$249.99, $50 cheaper than the Xbox One S. Microsoft has also stated that they will be maintaining “at least that price difference” between the disc-based and disc-less Xbox One S versions.

The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is now available for preorder and will be available for purchase starting on May 7th.

What do you think about the new disc-less Xbox One S? Do you think it was smart of Xbox to remove the disc drive to bring down the price? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook, or MeWe.
