Motorola unveils new moto z4 with 6.4″ OLED display for US$499.99

After an unfortunate misstep by the Motorola Amazon account, in which they prematurely listed the phone for sale and actually sold some, the company has officially announced the moto z4. As expected, the z line is sticking with a similar design to continue to accommodate legacy moto mods, which is a wise move.

The company is, of course, pushing the new 5G moto mod for the Verizon network and marketing the moto z4 as an upgradeable 5G phone. 5G is the main selling point of the moto z4 and they’re offering a special limited time price of US$199.99 for Verizon customers on that moto mod. 5G capabilities aside, here’s the rundown of the other features and specs on the z4.

Of course, you have the ability to use any of the moto mods that have been produced. Aside from that, you get the Snapdragon 675 CPU running things on the inside. Motorola has also packed in AI capabilities into the z4, not unlike many other smartphone makers right now.

The company is also touting its new camera system which is 48MP and uses what they call, “Quad Pixel” technology. The camera system has 4x better light sensitivity and optical image stabilization. Of course, the camera also does “Night Vision” which is similar to the Pixel’s “NightSight.”

The front camera is 25MP which the company says will step up your selfie game. Portrait mode, wide angle, and AI-beauty are all packed into the front camera as well.

The moto z4 comes with a 3,600 mAh battery which should get most people through the day. It would have been nice to see a 4,000 mAh battery but moto does make the z-series very thin, so there is a trade-off. The company has also packed in a 6.4″ OLED display in this chassis.

Bring movies, games, and photos to life on a 6.4″ Max Vision OLED display. Stretching from edge to edge, the screen on the moto z4 offers our highest screen to body ratio, delivering vibrant colors and sharp details in Full HD+ resolution.

moto z4’s display has some of the newest technology in the industry for unlocking your phone and making mobile payments. The optical fingerprint sensor reads your fingerprint through the display, then discreetly fades away, so there’s no need for a separate button or sensor.
