Razer Viper ambidextrous gaming mouse features optical switches

Razer is definitely one company that is synonymous with gaming. The new Razer Viper is not only an ambidextrous gaming mouse but also features new Razer Optical Mouse Switches which offer faster actuation speed.

In fact, Razer claims the new Optical Mouse Switches offer three times the actuation speed of traditional mechanical mouse switches. The optical switches take the physical contact required to send a signal out of the equation, resulting in this increased actuation speed.

Traditional mechanical switches send electrical signals via metallic contact, creating a residual bouncing effect that can introduce multiple signals. To make sure only a single click is registered, a debounce delay is used–resulting in a slower response time.

With Razer’s Optical Switches, no physical contact is required to send a signal. By using an infrared light beam that passes through a shutter to fire an electrical signal to the computer, the switches respond instantaneously to every finger press, making sure every action is executed to the player’s intent.

Rated for 70 million clicks, the Razer Viper is also very light, coming in at just 69 grams. Designed for esports in particular, there is no skeletal shell in the mouse, yet Razer claims the solid, ambidextrous chassis is still strong and durable. Sporting Razer’s 5G Optical Sensor, the Razer Viper supports up to 16,000 DPI natively, has 99.4% resolution accuracy, and tracks at 450 IPS (inches per second). DPI settings can be fine-tuned and stored on the mouse’s onboard storage. In addition, the Viper also features eight programmable buttons.

“As soon as I laid my eyes on the Razer Viper, I fell in love with it because the shape is just perfect. The click of the optical switches feels smoother and faster, and the flexibility of the cable makes it awesome for CS:GO.”

Another new feature for gaming mice, the Razer Viper also features the new Razer Speedflex Cable. The new cable design utilizes a low-drag cable covering for less friction and snagging, minimizing drag and snag-free movements while using the mouse.
