Google Pixel 4 specifications all but confirmed by Best Buy Canada

This isn’t the first time, and likely won’t be the last, that Best Buy has leaked or put upcoming Google products on sale early. This time, Best Buy Canada briefly posted pre-orders and Google Pixel 4 specifications ahead of the company’s upcoming launch event slated for Tuesday.

While the specifications of Google’s upcoming Android smartphones hasn’t exactly been a best-kept secret, when a large retailer like Best Buy posts them early, you can pretty much bank on them being correct.

While three colour variants are rumoured to be coming, Best Buy Canada only listed Black and White, leaving out the anticipated coral/orange colourway. In addition, only the 6GB/64GB version of the smartphone devices was listed, although it is very likely a 6GB/128GB version will be available as well. The listing also confirmed both Motion Sense and Squeeze to Launch Google Assistant as features of the new devices.

The listing also included a handy comparison chart, allowing shoppers to compare the Google Pixel 4 specifications against the 4 XL and the 3 XL. As you can see, the Pixel 4/4 XL will feature the Snapdragon 855 chipset (up from the 845 in the 3/3 XL), a dual 12MP/16MP rear camera (up from the single 12MP camera in the 3/3 XL), 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB), and will also feature Face Unlock.

As far as pricing goes, none was listed on the Best Buy Canada pre-order page, although a CAD$50 deposit was required. However, Canadian pricing was previously leaked by Evan Blass on Twitter.

For Canadians, at least, the new Google devices aren’t going to be exactly cheap. If history is any indication, hopefully, we’ll see a more affordable Pixel 4a/4a XL in the spring.

What do you think about the Google Pixel 4 specifications as “confirmed” by Best Buy Canada? What do you think about the constant stream of leaks surrounding upcoming devices? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook, or MeWe.
