Apple TV+ has officially launched today and iPhone 11 users can claim their free year of the service right now. The company announced a few weeks ago that customers who purchased any variant of the new iPhone 11 will get a free year of Apple TV+. It’s pretty simple to claim, just head into the Apple TV app and you will be greeted with a claim your free year button. Click the button and as long as you’re signed in to your Apple account, the same one used on your iPhone 11, you’re all set.

Of course, the subscription will be set to renew at US$4.99 a month at the end of your free year. So it’s a good idea to set a reminder to cancel if you’re thinking you probably won’t keep the service. Apple TV+ will offer up shows such as The Morning Show, See, and For All Mankind. The service will, of course, work on your iPhone 11 smartphones but is also compatible with devices that support the Apple TV app. Here is a rundown of devices you can enjoy Apple TV+ on:

iPhone 11 Apple TV+
  • Browsers such as Safari, Chrome, and Firefox using tv.apple.com
  • Samsung Smart TVs from 2018 and 2019 that include the Apple TV app. Not all Samsung Smart TVs support the Apple TV app.
  • Of course, iPhone 11 and any other iPhone will support the service as well as iPod, and iPad. You do need to be on the latest version of iOS for it to work.
  • Apple TV boxes like the HD and 4K box, so long as they’re running the latest tvOS.
  • Any Smart TV or streaming box or stick that supports the Apple TV app.

“Customers with AirPlay 2-enabled Samsung, LG and VIZIO smart TVs must update to iOS 12.3 or later or macOS Catalina to play or mirror Apple TV+ originals from the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac directly to their smart TVs. Customers with eligible Sony smart TVs will be able to enjoy AirPlay 2 support later this year.”

Apple

Apple will be making its TV app available on other platforms such as Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony, and VIZIO in the near future. There is some more good news though. iPhone 11 users aren’t the only ones who can take advantage of this offer. If you purchased an iPad, iPad Touch, Mac, or an AppleTV box then the offer should work for you too. The purchase must have been made after September 10th.

So while the iPhone 11 phones are a bit pricey, you’re at least getting some value from a free year worth of streaming. What do you think of this offer from Apple?
