The New York Times is confirming that Samsung will announces its Galaxy S5 flagship handset at Mobile World Congress on the 24th of this month. This time around don’t expect the elaborate production they had for the last unveiling. Instead expect a low key press conference at MWC, although they did send press invites out billing this as “Episode 1” of their unpacked events. More products are sure to come through the year and as always, they will continue to call them “Unpacked” events.

We’ll see what the S5 has in store for users this year. One of the more exciting rumors (true or not) is that the S5 could be a unibody aluminium construction stepping away from its traditional poly-carbonate design. If Sammy does produce an aluminum flagship, both iPhone and HTC are in for just that much more competition. Be sure to keep an ear to the ground on the 24th so you don’t miss all the details!
