New on Netflix December: Netflix Originals galore!

|
, ,

Last month we tried something a bit different and combined our New on Netflix U.S. and New on Netflix Canada posts into one. We’ve decided to keep that format moving forward, and as a reminder shows that are coming to the U.S. only will be marked with (US), and likewise for shows coming to Canada (CA) only. If a show or movie isn’t marked with either US or CA, it will be coming to both services. Before we get started, check out the Netflix December sizzle reel for the U.S.:

…and Canada.

Without further ado, check out what’s coming to Netflix U.S. and Netflix Canada in December.

Netflix Original Series

This is a HUGE month for Netflix Original Series, with a total of 12 new Netflix Originals debuting in Canada and 14 debuting in the U.S. Another three are returning to both services for their second season.

Returning Netflix Original Series

As they’re returning to both services, let’s start off with the returning Netflix Originals. On December 12th, Fuller House will return for its second season in which the Tanner family’s adventures continue as DJ Tanner-Fuller shares a home with her sister Stephanie and friend Kimmy who help raise her three boys.

December 9th also sees the return of Club de Cuervos, as siblings Chava and Isabel continue their quest to one-up each other and take full control of Cuervos FC. The third returning show is something anime fans will be sure to tune in for as Ajin returns for its second season on December 27th. Tune in as Sato will stop at nothing in his bloodthirsty quest for world domination. To stop him, Kei and Ko will have to make some hard choices.

Now for the cornucopia of new Netflix Originals coming to the streaming services in December.

Netflix U.S. Original Series

Netflix U.S. viewers can catch the series debut of Merlí on December 1st. Produced by Catalonia channel TV3, Merlí is about a philosophy teacher of the same name, who encourages students to think freely using some unorthodox methods, which divides the opinions of the class, teachers, and families.

No Second Chance, based on the 2004 book by Harlan Coben, debuts on December 16th. The book centers around a doctor who has been shot, his wife murdered, and his six-month-old daughter kidnapped. After getting a ransom note, he knows that he only has one chance to save his daughter.

Airing on Showcase in Canada, Netflix has picked up the time travel drama series Travelers which stars Eric McCormack (Will & Grace). In this sci-fi series, a team of the last surviving humans from the future travel back in time through their consciousness and assume the lives of seemingly random people in order to try and save humanity.

Netflix Canada Original Series

Both Crazyhead and Call Me Francis debut on the 16th of December, in the first show, bowling alley worker Amy and socially inept Raquel kick some serious demon butt while also facing their inner demons as they navigate their early 20s. Two more series debut on December 20th: Ten Percent and The Break. In Ten Percentfour Parisian talent agents have their hands full managing their clients’ careers in the wake of their boss’s unexpected death. Unfortunately Netflix doesn’t have a synopsis up yet for The Break, but we’ll update here once we get one.
