IFROGZ Impulse Wireless

The only issue I had with the design was the faux leather at the earpieces and the headband. It seems rather thin, almost to the point that it could tear at any moment.

While these may not be highest end headphones on the market, they are wireless and come at a price point that puts them within easy reach of almost everyone. Design

The IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones I reviewed were black with red accents on the ear pads and on the inner headband; they are also available in white and tan. On the white and tan version, the tan color on the earpieces and headband is reminiscent of natural leather. The red set has accents on the inner headband in the form of contrasting stitching that lends the IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones a touch of class. The plastic the headphones are made of might not be top end, but it is still very nice.

The only issue I had with the design was the faux leather at the earpieces and the headband. It seems rather thin, almost to the point that it could tear at any moment. I wouldn’t expect real leather, considering the price point, but I think this material could be just a bit more durable. The headphones are very lightweight and comfortable, even after extended periods of listening you can almost forget you are wearing them.

Ease Of Use

Pairing the headphones to Bluetooth was very easy. Simply hold down the power button for three seconds to go into pairing mode, go into your device and select IFROGZ Impulse wireless. On-ear controls for the power and music make using the headphones very easy. The position of the controls makes it almost inevitable that at some point you will inadvertently hit the power button as you put the headphones on, thereby accidently turning them off. I did this several times while testing the headphones. Eventually, I started handling them by the headband to avoid any unwanted button pushing.

Sound

The sound the IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones produces is pretty good considering their low cost. They do have a tendency to make the music sound just a bit muffled, almost as if there is too much foam on the earpieces. While this is noticeable, I wouldn’t call it a deal breaker when considering whether or not to purchase these headphones. The bass is straight up the middle, not too much, not too little. IFROGZ states that the Impulse wireless headphones feature noise isolation. I would have to say these headphones do a decent job of isolating you from external noise. Just remember, the noise isolation is passive and comes compliments of the foam on the earpieces.

Reception/Call Quality

Reception via Bluetooth was very excellent; I didn’t start losing the signal until I walked up to the second-floor of our house. The call quality was very good on the IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones. I was able to clearly hear the person I was talking too, and they said I sounded no different than when I talked directly into my phone. These tests were done while the headphones were connected wirelessly to my device. Calls can be controlled via the buttons on the earpieces. You press the play button to answer a call, press and hold the play button for three seconds to send the call to your voice mail and press play during a call to disconnect. I truly don’t like taking calls through headphones, but if that’s something you like doing, the IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones sure make it easy.

Battery Life

The IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones have a claimed battery life of 12 hours. Going from fully charged, with the volume at half, I was able to enjoy my music for 14 hours and 11 minutes before they needed to be recharged. Your results may vary depending on volume and signal strength from the source.

Styling that will make everyone think you paid more for these headphones than you did.
Needs Work
The sound can be just a bit muffled and the material covering the earpieces and headband seems a bit flimsy.
Bottom Line
The IFROGZ Impulse wireless headphones come at a tempting price and are perfect if you want good sound but don’t want the encumbrance of wires while you’re on the move. They also do a good job of blocking out ambient noise while being comfortable enough to wear all day long.
