Ryse Gets An October Steam Release Date

After eleven months of Xbox One exclusivity, Ryse: Son of Rome will be making the leap to Steam October 10th with a reduced $40 price tag. By pre-ordering the game, either through Steam or the delayed physical release, fans will also receive a 25-track soundtrack so you can rock out with your mohawk out when you’re not at your computer.

Crytek hasn’t announced any major changes to the core of the game, but have stated that the PC port of Ryse will include all DLC that the game received on the Xbox One for no extra charge. This will give PC players built-in access to several maps, multiplayer skins and several new enemies to quick time event to death.

Also along with the included DLC will be the ability to play the game in 4K resolution. Even amid the relatively poor reviews citing lackluster game play and an uninspired story, one thing always remained the same in critic’s overviews – the game is absolutely gorgeous. At the very least, this could shape up to be the new “But can it play Crysis?” as the benchmark for how well your souped up, watercooled, glowing PC master race machine of console peasant crushing death can run a high-end game at 4K.

Ryse is the latest in a line of games losing their Xbox One exclusivity and moving over to the other consoles or the PC. Titanfall, although advertised as an “Xbox One exclusive,”  has also been available for the PC since the day it launched and there are rumors the sequel could also be on the PS4. It was also revealed shortly after its initial announcement that the next game in the Tomb Raider franchise is merely a timed release and not permanently staying home on the Xbox One.

If you are on the fence about Ryse or leery of its mixed reviews, don’t fret. Being that it is now on Steam you can count on a sale or two chopping the price way down for a limited time, so keep an eye out during the winter sale.
