Weekly Rewind: Big Hero 6 Concept Art, Potter Rumors, Game Reviews, and More – Oct 5-11

|

From exclusive Big Hero 6 concept art to Harry Potter rumors and new game reviews, we’ve covered a lot over the past week here at MOARGeek. Here’s a quick recap of some of the stories we covered in our Weekly Rewind.

Books

Rowling-wikia
Is J.K Rowling up to no good?

Wait, what? Is it true? Some cryptic tweets from J.K. Rowling has everyone suspecting she’s up to no good and is writing another Harry Potter novel.

Comics

Big news from Marvel… Bleeding Cool is reporting that they have enough evidence to say that Marvel Comics is planning on a cancellation of The Fantastic Four.

Dredd fans don’t have to wait as long as they thought – executive producer Adi Shankar confirmed to TheWrap that an online mini-series about Dredd’s Dark Judges is coming later this month – and it’s free!

Movies

Gone Girl‘s opening weekend did great at the box office but, more importantly, have people finally stopped paying to see Let’s Be Cops?

Robert Downey Jr. took to to Reddit for an Ask Me Anything (AMA). RDJ confirmed he is currently in negotiations for Iron Man 4!

Big-Hero-6-21
Check out this concept art from Disney’s upcoming Big Hero 6 in our exclusive look!

And we’ve got an exclusive for you! Our very own Justin Jelinek had the chance to visit Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) in Florida and send us some Big Hero 6 concept art.

Gaming

Talk about flying under the radar! Over a dozen games from Disney interactive have popped up on Steam including Pure, Split/Second, Epic Mickey 2, and more.

It’s official! We speculated on some rumors that the release date for Smash Bros Wii U would be November 21st last week and Nintendo confirmed that earlier this week.

We took another look at the story line in Destiny. We feel that Bungie’s latest story is one that leaves entirely too much up to the gamer’s imagination, and could instead benefit from a few choice moments of exposition.

Music

Pink-Floyd-The-Endless-River
Pink Floyd’s The Endless River will be their final album. Thanks, and so long!

It is inevitable, life only lasts so long and so do bands. David Gilmour confirmed in an Rolling Stone interview that The Endless River will be the the last Pink Floyd album. Say it ain’t so!

Pop Culture

Here’s an interesting one. Warner Bros. Studios releases documentation on its fully automated anti-piracy system after court order. Read on to see how Warner Bros. is fighting online piracy with “robots”.

TV

Twin-Peaks
It’s been 25 years, but it sounds like Twin Peaks is returning!

It’s been a long 25 year wait, but it sounds like the cult classic Twin Peaks is coming back and will be in production through 2015 and shown on Showtime in 2016.

Color us surprised! Star Wars Rebels turned out to be witty, action-packed, and a wholly different journey than the previous animated show offered.

Reviews

A couple reviews this week, the first was Matt Lyons’ review of Hyrule Warriors. It may not be the next big Zelda experience some fans wanted, but Hyrule Warriors is a pretty fun game even if it does lack depth and some creativity.

And our weekly Doctor Who recap is back once again – this time the Doctor takes Clara and student, Courtney Woods, on a trip to decide whether or not humanity will Kill the Moon.

Forza-Horizon-2-Jaguar-F-Type-R-Coupe
Forza Horizon 2 launched last week and we have our review!

Another big release this week on the Xbox One (and 360). Jason Bouwmeester took a look at Forza Horizon 2. The second installment in the Horizon series is outstanding, the festival mood is alive and well, and it’s easy to get sidetracked from the main story line – and that’s a good thing.

For a movie whose premise is reliving a single day in time, Edge of Tomorrow – starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt – was surprisingly non-repetitive. Check out our spoiler free capsule review!

South Park picks up the pieces after a disappointing episode last week and delivers a great message with a surprising amount of funny moments in this week’s episode.

Satire

Wii-U-Satire
In our first satire piece, we “reported” that Nintendo is region locking… your screen?

We thought we’d try our hand at a little satire on the site this week. Let us know what you think about our first article – apparently it was recently revealed during a surprise Nintendo Direct that the Big N will begin region locking the left side of TV screens in an effort to stop piracy.

That about wraps up our Weekly Rewind – look for our recap every Sunday for a quick glance at what you may have missed over the past week. As always, the staff here at MOARGeek thanks you – our readers – for checking us out throughout the week and thank you for your continued support. After all, we write because we love to share what interests us and keep you informed on geek stuff from around the world!
