Blizzard announced during their BlizzCon keynote that Hearthstone will be getting an brand new expansion, titled Goblins vs Gnomes, as well as make the jump to Android tablets this December. We previously reported on a developer blog post that hinted at a winter release for the Android Tablet version of Hearthstone and it was finally confirmed today. Also as expected, the mobile version (Android and iOS) will not be coming until next year.

The biggest news, of course, is the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion. Goblin and Gnome strife dates back all the way to Warcraft RTS games (remember that thing Warcraft was before it became World of Warcraft) and, if that past rivalry is any indication, you can expect some cards with explosive and unpredictable results and some comedy sprinkled in.

If you look at Hearthstone’s previous expansion, Curse of Naxxramas, it heavily featured the “Deathrattle” mechanic to feed into the idea of death and being reanimated in Naxxramas’ lair. Being that this Goblins vs Gnomes is based off of the random and whacky tiny people, it’s likely that the big focus could be on cards with random effects, or requiring some kind of roll or random number generation – but Blizzard has not confirmed anything or revealed any cards yet.

Hearthstone is currently available on PC, Mac, and iPad. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think on Facebook, Google+, Twitter or in the comments below!
