UPDATED: Game Of Thrones To Show Two Episodes And Debut Exclusive New Trailer In IMAX Theaters

Game of Thrones, HBO’s hit show based off of the George R. R. Martin novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, will join the elite on the silver screen on January 23, 2015. The network will be the first among its kind to feature its show in IMAX theaters. showing two episodes from season four followed by an exclusive sneak-peek trailer of season five developed specifically for IMAX audiences.
UPDATE (01/14/2015): Due to unexpected popularity, Episodes 9 and 10 of Season 4: The Watchers on the Wall and The Children, will now begin showing on January 29th to allow for more screenings across the US. Tickets will be available starting this Friday, 1/16.

tyrion dancingThe season four episodes will be digitally re-mastered with the proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) formula to improve the show’s sound and visuals to give audiences an enhanced experience over a regular theater. IMAX not only shows films on some of the largest screens available to audiences, it gives viewers more than just a film to watch, it aims to make viewers feel as if they are in the movie itself. Using exclusive technology coupling both audio and visual, the IMAX Experience offers crystal-clear images with stunning details and audio capabilities that capture the full dynamic range of sound with scary precision, boasting that audiences could hear a pin drop from across the room and know exactly where it fell. Over 150 IMAX theaters across the country are set to feature the episodes however the event is only a week long, lasting from January 23rd until January 29th, 2015.
