Will Arnett’s brand new comedy series, Flaked, will be coming exclusively to Netflix in 2016, it was announced in a press release earlier today. The series first season will be eight episodes in total, and be available on the streaming service sometime in 2016.
Flaked will be set in Venice, California and is the story of “a self-appointed ‘guru’ who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination.” It stars Will Arnett as Chip, a man attempting to stay ahead of his own snowballing lies. As well as being the star, Arnett also co-wrote and co-created the series along with Mark Chappell, who also produced The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. Peter Principato and Mitch Hurwitz, both of whom worked on Arrested Development, will also serve as executive producers along with Chappell and Arnett.
“We are thrilled to be the home of Will Arnett’s next series,” said Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix, on the new series, “and look forward to Chip joining his repertoire alongside such diverse and inspirational characters such as Gob, BoJack, and Batman.”
Arnett is no stranger to Netflix and its exclusive content. He also stars another Netflix exclusive series, BoJack Horseman, and co-starred in the Netflix-exclusive season of Arrested Development that aired last year. “We’re very excited to partner with Netflix,” Arnett said in a statement, “the home of original content – and the network I knew would be the ideal home for this passion project.”
Netflix continues to beef up its library of original series, which now includes House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Marco Polo, Turbo FAST, Hemlock Groveand several others now and in the near future.
