Backstreet Boys & ‘NSync Are Making A Zombie Movie, Because Of Course They Are

Movies / Music

Oh my god, they’re back again…If you sang that last line in your head rather than reading it as a somewhat incredulous statement, I’ve got some great news for you. In this week’s “Where the heck did that come from?” news, members of the 90’s boy bands Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync are getting together to make a zombie movie tentatively called Dead 7. If you are/were a fan of boy bands, this movie is going to be for you. If you like zombies, westerns, horses, or odd hand jewelry, this movie may just be for you.

Written by and starring former Backstreet’r Nick Carter, Dead 7 will be a post-apocalyptic zombie Western horror movie, and the studio behind the equally ridiculously premised Sharknado movies will be producing the film. Carter was apparently at the San Diego Comic Con to promote the film, and I honestly have no idea how we missed that when it happened. Even longtime BSB and ‘NSync fans seem to be caught off guard by the news.

As of this moment, Dead 7 is set to star not only Nick Carter, but former BSB alums Howie Dorough and A.J. McLean. ‘NSync’s very own Joey Fatone and even O-Town’s Jacob Underwood will be along for the ride as well. That may not be the end of the former boy band roster though. When asked about any other former musicians that could be invited onto the project, Carter suggested that he might reach out to Jordan Knight of New Kids On The Block, because what would a boy band zombie movie be without boy bands from all generations? If you’re looking for a plot synopsis there isn’t much to go on quite yet. Carter has only suggested that the story will follow a “ragtag band of gunslingers.” As of his interview with Rolling Stone last month, character details were still coming together too:

My character is still being worked out right now, but I’m a good guy that’s going to help save the day.

At the very least it appears that as of yesterday they’ve settled on a wardrobe and started training and possibly filming, as Carter’s Instagram account had this action sequence.

If you’d like to see more on Dead 7, you can check out Carter’s Instagram, as well as the Instagram accounts of co-stars Jacob Underwood, A.J. McLean, and Chloe Lattanzi. No word on a release date yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear anything.

Tell us what you think. Are you looking forward to cheering on your favorite boy band members while they fight the zombie horde? Do you not even remotely care? Will you watch either way? Let us know in the comments or on your favorite social media site.
