Have you heard of Supply Pod? Probably not, because it’s new. It should come as no surprise that we here at MOARGeek love subscription mystery boxes. So it should also come as no surprise that we’re getting pretty excited over a brand new subscription mystery box.
It has come to our attention that Outer Places, a digital media company that explores the intersection of science and sci-fi, is launching its own subscription mystery box called Supply Pod. The first supply pod is based on the new movie currently in theaters from 20th Century Fox, The Martian. Kieran Dickson, Editor of Outer Places, is excited for the pod launch.

While what’s in the box is a mystery — that’s really all a part of the fun isn’t it — Outer Spaces hinted that may include survival gear, astronaut essentials, collectibles and more. For those interested in purchasing the box, there are two options depending on what you want to spend.
The essential pod comes in at $29.99 plus shipping, handling and tax, which contains the standard items you’ll receive in the box. For an extra $10, you get everything in the essential package plus a paperback copy of Andy Weir’s The Martian novel. Here’s the kicker, 50 of the deluxe pods will be selected at random, and purchasers of those pods will receive an autographed copy of the book. Neat, huh? Outer Places says it’s rapidly expanding its list of partners and will be adding new boxes in the coming months. Currently, the Supply Pod is only offered in the continental United States.
