Another game has been added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list, this time Namco Bandai’s classic sci-fi shooter Galaga. If you previously purchased the Xbox 360 version, you should now see it showing up in your ready to install section on your Xbox One. If not, you can purchase it for only $4.99 and it should show up on your Xbox One shortly after. Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, made the announcement on Twitter.

For those of you younger gamers out there who aren’t familiar with Galaga, or perhaps you slept through the early 80s, here’s a bit of an overview:
Control your fighter, with its unique ability to combine with other fighters, and shoot down the invading aliens. Aliens attack in formations using a variety of attack patterns. Rescue a captured fighter to combine with it to form a Dual Fighter with twice the firepower! Earn Perfect Bonuses more easily using a Dual Fighter on the Challenging Stages! GALAGA was released in 1981, and became an instant classic with its innovative fighter combination system and varied enemy attack patterns.
After last month’s additions to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list, Microsoft announced that instead of monthly releases, games would be announced and added as soon as they were available and passed the certification processes. In addition, you can expect titles like Halo Wars, Skate 3, BioShock, BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite, and Call of Duty: Black Ops to come soon as they are all listed on the Xbox One Backward Compatibility site — albeit without a release date.
