The official Twitter app appears to be gaining a feature many users have long requested, night mode. Our good friend Hernán Castañón Álvarez tipped us off with a couple of screenshots of what night mode looks like. As you can see night mode is much easier on the eyes than the blazing white that burns your retina’s out. Night mode is actually useful during the day as well. If an app has night mode, I tend to use that most all the time.
Twitter had been alpha testing night mode earlier this year and then it seemed night mode was an automatic feature. Users didn’t have the ability to switch night mode on and off. From what we can tell here, that is not the case. There is a toggle to go back and forth from night mode. The official Twitter app hasn’t exactly been a favorite among many Android users. Many prefer alternate Twitter apps like Flamingo and Fenix due to the deeper customization those apps provide. Twitter must be taking notice of this and may be unpacking alternate apps to use their features in the official app.
For now all we know from Hernán Castañón Álvarez is that night mode will be official. What other goodies are being worked on by Twitter remain to be seen. No official word on when the Twitter app will get night mode but at least we know it’s coming.
Do you use the official Twitter app? Is night mode something you’ve been waiting for? What other features would you like to see Twitter bring to their app? Would you stop using a third party Twitter app when night mode is official? Let us know your thoughts and comments below or hit us up on Twitter, Facebook or Google+.Source: Hernán Castañón Álvarez
