Blizzard Entertainment’s latest title, Overwatch, has seen huge success since its launch in May of 2016. According to a press release issued on June 2ndOverwatch has already sold more than 7 million copies. Fans have even more to look forward to as Blizzard has already started teasing a new character.

A picture released on the official twitter page shows the blueprints of a new weapon with input from our favorite builders op turret, Torbjörn Lindholm, and our beloved healer op rezzer Angela Ziegler, also known as Mercy.

The notes have important details as we discover Torbjörn is the creator and has received important input from Mercy on the healing device. Torbjörn’s comments read:

As discussed, this is the proposed rifle that could be equipped by medics in the field. Despite what my esteemed colleague will surely suggest, the application of her Biotic Field technology is only intended to be used for healing.

Mercy’s response:

While Torbjörn has, as ever, put forth a very clever design for his later weapon, I would like to remind everyone that my intention when agreeing to the development of different biotic delivery mechanisms was to save the lives of Overwatch agents and others in need of medical aid. With this latest proposal, it is clear to me that we are on the slippery slope to modifications that will inevitably result in a weaponized version of this technology: something that I have been completely opposed to from the beginning.

The blueprints are addressed to J. Morrison and G. Reyes which are Soldier 76 and Reaper, respectively. The same teaser picture was released on Overwatch Brasil’s twitter with an additional recipient – A. Amari. We know Fareeha Amari as Pharah, and her mother is Ana Amari. We know Ana is an esteemed sharpshooter and founding member of Overwatch. However, her current whereabouts and how she got there remain unknown. While purely speculation at this point, it doesn’t seem to be too far of a stretch that Ana Amari could be the newest hero.

Official confirmation seems to be coming in the way of San Diego Comic Con. “Behind the scenes with Overwatch’s newest hero” is the title of Blizzard’s panel on July 21st at 6:45 pm. The description reads:

Blizzard developers James Waugh (director of story & creative development), Michael Chu (senior designer, Overwatch), and Arnold Tsang (assistant art director, Overwatch) present a behind-the-scenes look into the creative process of developing the art, design, and story for Overwatch’s newest hero. Q&A session moderated by Kim Phan (senior manager, esports).

There has been no other word from Blizzard that an official announcement will be released before the Comic Con panel.
