iHome already has an Alexa-powered alarm clock, the iAVS16 which we’ve already reviewed here at Techaeris, and now they’re bringing Google Assistant to your bedroom. “Hey Google… dim bedroom lights… Hey Google… play Barry White…” Kidding aside, the iHome iGV1 is being unveiled in Las Vegas at CES 2018 today and further solidifies iHome’s foray into smart home connected devices.

“The smart home market is growing at an incredible pace over the next five years. Much of that growth is being fueled by the proliferation of smart home devices from brands like iHome that offer products that support popular smart home platforms like Google Assistant,” said Gary Schultz, Director of Product and Business Development at iHome. “We are pleased to expand our smart home product line to include our first music system to benefit from the numerous features and smart home control capabilities with the Google Assistant built into our bedside system.”

As mentioned in the quote above, the iGV1 will utilize Google’s digital assistant and allow users to control Google Assistant enabled smart home devices. The iHome iGV1 features a clean white shell with a gray fabric speaker grill (very Google-esque) and a dimmable display that can also be turned off for those who wish. The stylish design allows for the iGV1 to complement any room in the house as well and not just the bedroom.

Those familiar with Google Assistant will be familiar with some of the functionality of the iGV1 including getting a daily briefing, adjusting the thermostat, starting the coffee maker, playing a music playlist from Google Play Music, Spotify, Pandora, and others — all from the comfort of their bed as they wake up.

The iGV1 offers features and conveniences including:

  • Integrated voice control through the Google Assistant
  • Gorgeous, futuristic design assembled with premium materials
  • Works with a broad range of Google Assistant enabled smart home devices, including iHome Control SmartPlugs
  • Google Cast Wi-Fi music playback and wireless Bluetooth music streaming
  • 1 Amp USB port to charge mobile devices (cable not included)
  • Time sync via NTP provides clock accuracy over Wi-Fi networks
  • Reson8 speaker chamber design delivers astounding clarity, depth, and power

The iGV1 has an MSRP of $139.99 USD and is coming soon to retailers across the U.S.
