Yesterday, Microsoft announced the addition of Forza Horizon 3 to the list of games enhanced for the Xbox One X. With that, there are more than 100 Xbox One X Enhanced Games that are now playable on Microsoft’s latest console.

As we previously mentioned, Xbox One X Enhanced games vary in enhancements from better framerates to HDR and/or native 4K support, as well as Dolby Atmos support. Developers can choose which features to implement, and Microsoft has compiled a few highlights from developers who have enhanced their games.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

With Assassin’s Creed Origins, Ubisoft brought the world of Ancient Egypt to life and invited players to discover the secrets behind the Great Pyramids, forgotten myths, the last pharaohs and the origin story of the Assassin’s Brotherhood.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is set in Ancient Egypt – a setting that was incredibly challenging and fulfilling to build and explore. In bringing the world to life, we used the power of the Xbox One X to display more of the details and textures in 4K, maintaining higher quality models at further distances so that the world and its cities, like Alexandria and Memphis, feel rich and expansive.” – Ashraf Ismail, Game Director, Ubisoft Montreal

Forza Motorsport 7

Developer Turn 10 Studios built its reputation on making photorealistic and incredibly accurate racing simulations such as Forza Motorsport 7, which runs in native 4K at 60 fps and stunning HDR.

Forza Motorsport 7 was built from the ground up with Xbox One X in mind, with improved textures and lighting, and car models rendered in unprecedented detail. We wanted to capture the full motorsport experience – the sights, sounds and feel of driving over 700 amazing cars at the limit – and we hope players truly feel like they’re inside the cockpit of a real-life vehicle when they play the game on Xbox One X.” – Dan Greenawalt, Forza Racing Franchise Creative Director, Turn 10 Studios

Gears of War 4

The Gears of War franchise has always been known for pushing the limits of video game technology, and The Coalition’s Gears of War 4 proved no different.

“In Gears of War 4, the world of Sera has never been more immersive thanks to brand new features and higher resolution textures – all possible with the additional horsepower and memory offered by the Xbox One X. With support for two rendering modes – visuals for a true 4K experience and performance for 60 fps, HDR, support for Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic, enhanced light shafts, dynamic shadows, increased draw distances, superior reflections and enhanced character textures, we’re incredibly proud of what the team has been able to achieve on Xbox One X so far.” – Rod Fergusson, Studio Head, The Coalition

Halo 5: Guardians

Halo 5: Guardians received high praise for nailing a 60 fps target in a premiere AAA shooter experience, and a new level of detail was revealed thanks to its Xbox One X enhancements.

“Playing Halo 5: Guardians in 4K shows off a ton of detail on our characters, weapons, and vehicles that was not possible to see in 1080p. From the materials and stitches on our Spartan’s gloves to operator instructions on the ARs all the little details really shine. Halo 5 in 4K is not only a visual treat, but the enhanced power of Xbox One X has the same smooth gameplay throughout campaign and multiplayer, especially in massive Warzone matches and frenetic campaign maps. The load times are also significantly faster (especially noticeable in campaign), and the in-game cutscenes look beautiful when viewing in full fidelity at 4K.” – Chris Lee, Studio Head of FPS, 343 Industries

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, developer Monolith Productions challenges players to confront the deadliest of enemies in a monumental battle for Middle-earth.

“4K on the PC is awesome, and once you’ve been playing for a while in 4K it’s difficult to go back to something smaller (resolution). We got the same feeling of awesomeness when we finally got HDR up and running on the Xbox One X. This is the exact same level, in 4K, but 4K HDR on the Xbox One X.” – Matt Allen, Lead Software Engineer, Monolith Productions

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Since the Xbox One X was released, many fans waited in anticipation to see how CD Projekt RED would enhance The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox One X.

“We think Xbox users who haven’t played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or who are looking to relive Geralt’s final adventure on the new console will be happy to see what we’ve achieved with the game’s visuals on Xbox One X. Thanks to 4K, we can show everything our artists created with more detail, while HDR support further immerses players within rich, vivid environments. And it’s not just owners of a 4K TV who will benefit from the higher resolution. Thanks to supersampling, the leap in quality will be visible even on a 1080p screen.” – Jakub Kutrzuba, Development Lead, CD Projekt RED
